What to bring

Clothing according to weather, for example gloves and good sneakers or hiking boots.

On this tour you’ll get the chance to get to know the Icelandic horse on a personal level! You’ll brush the horse, saddle them and then go for a short ride on the beautiful black sand beach of Vík, South Iceland. The Family Tour is a gentle 30 minute ride designed for the youngest riders (6+) and their families. Our horses are friendly and sure-footed, perfect to enjoy the wild Icelandic terrain.

Our guides are happy to lead children from the ground or give extra assistance to anyone feeling a bit nervous. In the summer there is a chance to spot puffins flying above usIf you have younger children please don’t hesitate to send us an email.

Health and Safety information

Our horseback riding tours are completely suitable for people who have never gone horseback riding before. However, we do not recommend horseback riding if you have problems with your hips, knees, or your back. Riders should be able to mount unaided from the ground without a step stool.

Also, the riders have to be able to hold the reins and follow the guides’ instructions at all times, so a reasonable level of English is required. Riding during pregnancy is very risky and we reserve the right to exclude riders from our tours in case of pregnancy or severe physical impairment.

We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 2 days or less before the event

Please note that the weight limit for this tour is 100 kg (220 lbs). This is for the welfare of our horses.
Please also note that with our youngest riders in mind, the family tour is, without exception, entirely at walking pace. There is no option to speed up on the family tour.
